Epic Adventures at the Elements Festival

Last year, our filmmaking team packed our gear and ventured for the dramatic coast of north Devon to document the Elements Festival, which was hosted by Sidetracked Magazine. This two-day event celebrated the power of adventure sports, with activities like trail running, surfing, climbing, and quarry swimming, to name a few.

During these two epic days, we produced a film that captured the festival’s thrilling adventure sports and stunning natural surroundings.

The Call of the Wild

This event was a Mecca for all kinds of adventurous souls, athletes, photographers, and those passionate about the art of storytelling. Many attendees shared the experiences that shaped their love and feelings of connection to nature.

Although many incredible moments occurred at Kudhva, our main focus as filmmakers was the adrenaline-fuelled adventure sports. For instance, we accompanied Jenny Tough on various trail runs; scaled the legendary Roaches for some rock climbing; surfed Devon’s majestic beaches; and polished it all off with a refreshing quarry swim with the ever-inspiring Gilly McArthur.

It was our aim to highlight the adrenaline and sense of adventure at the core of the Elements Festival.

Capturing All the Action

As a film production company, our mission at Wild Gamma Films was to capture the energy and authenticity of the festival, along with maintaining our main focus on its adventure sports.

Shooting in the wild meant we had to make the best use of natural light, along with being quick on our feet! We relied on the Sony FX3 paired with the Laowa Ranger cine zoom—a powerful and versatile combo that enabled us to navigate tough terrains and capture even the most exhilarating action shots.

Harriet then complemented our cinematic footage with her Fuji X100V, shooting candid, nostalgic photos that added a more intimate feel to the project. We also deployed our FPV drone to create those sweeping, epic birds eye shots.

These filmmaking techniques reflect our ethos as a production agency: a dedication to first-class storytelling combined with high quality production values. Both are vital to outdoor filmmaking, especially when it comes to capturing the passion and exhilaration of adventure sports.

Showcasing our Sponsors

Part of the success of the Elements Festival were its presenting partners—Blundstone, VOITED, and Norrøna- which we celebrated in our film.

Blundstone’s rugged and durable footwear embodied the spirit of exploring wild terrains, while VOITED’s innovative ear seamlessly combines practicality and comfort that helps us make the most of the great outdoors.

Meanwhile, Norrøna, with its high-performance apparel, underscored the festival’s commitment to quality and sustainability. Then there’s brands like James, Stanley, Solo Stove, and KAVU who are famous for their durable tools, drinkware and stylish adventure-ready apparel.

A Tribute to the Power of the Great Outdoors

The final project was a homage to the Elements Festival and its intrepid spirit. It was also a tribute to those who embrace the outdoors and find endless beauty and inspiration in the wild.

While the film focuses heavily on the action, it’s also a reflection of the festival’s power to connect people in the spirit of adventure.

You can check out the full story in Sidetracked Magazine, where you’ll see how the Elements Festival brought together the best of adventure, community, and creativity at Kudhva.
